چکیده
A survey of respiratory symptoms and housing environments using ATS-DLD questionnaires (published by the Environment Agency of Japan) and measurement of Total IgE in serum according to the PRIST method was carried out from June to July, 1984 among elementary school children (766) in Suginami Ward, Tokyo. The relationship between allergic histories or housing environments (types of heaters, house structure type, use of carpets, raising of pets in the rooms, smoking habits of their mothers) of the children and the positive (300U/ml or more) proportion of their Total IgE was studied. The following results were obtained. 1. The proportion of positive Total IgE was higher for the group with allergic histories than for the group without them. 2. The proportion of positive Total IgE by heating apparatus revealed that the air conditioning group showed higher values than the group using stoves with or without chimneys, or the non-air conditioning group. 3. As for the group with allergic histories, the proportion of positive Total IgE was higher for the air conditioning group and the clean type group than for the group of stoves without chimneys. 4. The proportion of positive Total IgE was higher in cases of overlapping of air conditioning with carpets in the bedrooms, raising of pets in the rooms or smoking mothers than otherwise. Therefore, it is desirable in the use of air conditioners not only to remove the carpets from the bedrooms and to refrain from raising pets and smoking in the rooms, but also to frequently clean the air conditioner's filter and radiator.

متن کاملCorrelation of total serum IgE and density of house dust mites with severity of Atopic Dermatitis
Background and aim: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic relapsing skin disease that commonly begins during infancy and early childhood. Research studies refers to a relationship between exacerbation of atopic dermatitis and exposure to house dust mite (HDM), but the role of HDM in the pathogenesis of AD is controversial. The objecitve of this study was to assess the correlation of density...
متن کاملTotal IgE Levels in Healthy Children in Tehran, Iran
Determining the normal range of Immunoglobulin E (IgE) in any population is important for diagnosis of allergic diseases. The aim of this study was to determine normal values of IgE in children living in Tehran. Two-handed and fifty six healthy children aged one month to 14 years were selected. These children had neither parasitic infections nor atopic disease. They were divided into six groups...
متن کاملSerum levels of IL-17A increase in Asthma but not in accordance with Serum level of IgE and Asthma Severity
Background and Aims: Recent evidence suggests that T helper (Th) 17 cells are involved in the emergence of asthma. Th17 cells have a key role in inducing inflammation in asthmatic airways thus Interleukin (IL)-17A, the main cytokine of Th17, contributes to airways inflammation. Materials and Methods: We evaluated the level of IL-17A and total immunoglobulin E (IgE) in sera of 100 asthmatic p...
